Gonggong Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Gonggong”) participated in CES 2022, the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, in a hybrid format combining online and offline events. At CES, Gonggong unveiled its next-generation air purifier model, Swasher, which utilizes proprietary patented technology to dramatically reduce energy consumption while improving air purification performance, addressing environmental and energy challenges simultaneously as it ventures into the global market.
Recognized with the CES Innovation Award, Swasher replaces traditional HEPA filters with a water vortex system, maximizing the contact surface area between air and water per unit time. This design enhances noise reduction, energy efficiency, and harmful gas removal capabilities. Additionally, it eliminates the need for replaceable filters, reducing resource consumption, waste generation, and environmental pollution, thereby earning recognition for both its eco-friendliness and innovation.
Unlike conventional air purifiers, Swasher features a transparent interior design, providing consumers with a higher sense of trust. It also includes a mood lighting feature, combining emotional appeal with technological innovation. Its power consumption is as low as 9Wh per hour, allowing users to run the device 24/7 for a monthly electricity cost of approximately 450 KRW, which is one-third of the cost of standard air purifiers. Swasher is currently available online through platforms such as Naver Smart Store, LotteON, and Today’s House.
Lee Sun-an, CEO of Gonggong Co., Ltd., stated:
“The ‘safe and sustainable’ next-generation air purifier model presented by Gonggong at CES is based on eco-friendly innovative technology, leading the way in ESG transformations. Beyond household use, this technology will also be broadly applied to industrial air purification fields in the future. In line with the carbon-neutral era, we aim to break away from the vicious cycle of traditional filters that pollute the air while purifying it. Gonggong is committed to becoming a leading environmental company, offering new air management solutions that can be used without causing further environmental pollution.”
Since its incorporation in 2019, Gonggong has garnered several prestigious accolades, including the Leonardo da Vinci Grand Prix, the highest honor awarded by the European Association of Inventors (AEI) at the iENA International Trade Fair in Germany. The following year, Gonggong won the Grand Prize in the Household/Air Purifier Category at Korea’s Outstanding Patent Awards and secured first place at the 2nd Startup Demo Day hosted by the Youth Entrepreneurship Academy.
In 2020, Gonggong demonstrated its market potential by successfully raising over 220 million KRW from 1,157 supporters on Korea’s largest crowdfunding platform, Wadiz. In June 2021, it was selected for the TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startups), a private investment-led technology startup support program, securing up to 1 billion KRW in research funding over two years through government support and investment. Furthermore, Gonggong received the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Award at Korea’s Invention Patent Exhibition in December 2021, solidifying its reputation for technological excellence and innovation.
